Last week's cruise

Last weeks cruise was a full boat charter to Elderhostel. American Canadian Caribbean Line has been providing Elderhostel afloat programs for many years and has a well developed program for serving this group of active seniors.

We had cooperative weather and the crew performed really well given that they had just joined the ship a day or two prior to our departure. We worked out many of the "bugs" after a 6 month shipyard period quickly and all systems worked well for our passengers (yes, all the new toilets worked!).

Although this was my first cruise as "Master" with ACCL, my two years of experience aboard this vessel served me well in understanding the systems aboard, crew management and passenger program. I am very pleased with the positive customer service attitude of this seasons crew. People make the difference.

I was fortunate to have been joined by Capt. John Codega who has many years of experience with ACCL and this particular vessel as a "ride along" to help advise me on this trip out and get settled in. John is a great guy, and his "day job" is a Catholic Priest! So, we had a bit of divine guidance as well...
